QUICK FACTS: Did You Know?

About the Foundation

WCU Murray Memorial Scholarship was formed in May of 2007 by Della Murray. The Corporation was developed in memory of her son, Wharton Christopher Uriel Murray (WCU Murray MSC), better known as “Chris”; who was shot and killed in Atlanta, Georgia by an unknown assassin at the tender age of 26. At that time, she vowed that her son’s death would never be in vain.

Goals and Objectives

The Corporation’s goal and objective is to award financial assistance through scholarships to high school or GED graduates who endeavors to attend a school of higher learning. Chris was an average student. He graduated high school with no financial assistance to aid him in furthering his education; therefore, scholarships through this Corporation organized in his memory are geared to those students who are considered by most as only “average” with a GPA of 2.0-3.5.

Currently our scholarships are limited with the highest scholarship to be awarded is $5000. This scholarship is the Founder’s Scholarship with its own set criteria. One of our future endeavors is to be able to award full tuition scholarships.

Our Motto

WCU Murray MSC’s Motto is: “Everybody Deserves A Chance.”
